What certificates does the Sun Secure Global Desktop Security Pack support?

The Sun Secure Global Desktop Security Pack supports X.509 server certificates in Base 64-encoded format. These have the following structure:

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
...
certificate
...
-----END CERTIFICATE-----

Different Certificate Authorities issue different flavors of certificate. By default, these flavors are supported:

Certificate Authority Certificate Flavor
VeriSign, Inc Secure Server ID
Thawte Consulting Basic Web Server Certificate

You can use any other flavor of X.509 certificate from any Certificate Authority, for example a test certificate valid for a limited period. However, by default all users are prompted to accept or decline these certificates because they can't be validated by Secure Global Desktop.

With additional configuration you can permanently add a new certificate flavor, so that users are not prompted and certificates are validated.
