Can I use the browser-based webtop without Java™ technology?

Yes. The browser-based webtop uses Java™ applets to

install and start the Sun Secure Global Desktop Client; and
display applications on the webtop or in a new browser window.

If your organization prefers not to use Java technology, you must use the "thin" style webtop (http://server/sgd/thin.jsp). Using the thin webtop means:

You must run the webtop in your default web browser.
You may have to manually download and install the Sun Secure Global Desktop Client.
You have to start the Sun Secure Global Desktop Client with command-line arguments before logging in to Secure Global Desktop.
Applications can't display on the webtop or in a new browser window.
You may have to manually refresh the webtop display.
