This is an illustration of a clustered ASM configuration with Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) and a single-instance Oracle Database. The illustration shows multiple Oracle Database instances and multiple ASM instances. Across the top of the illustration, there are two Oracle RAC databases and one single-instance Oracle Database. The first Oracle RAC database has two instances as does the second Oracle RAC database. On the right is a single-instance Oracle database. Below these are five ASM instances, one for each database. The five ASM instances are clustered ASM instances, that is, they interoperate to serve all five of the Oracle Databases. Below the clustered ASM instances are five database images: on the left are two database images that service the first Oracle RAC database depicted at the top. In the middle, another two Oracle Databases appear serving the second Oracle RAC database at the top. On the far right, a single-instance Oracle Database appears to service the one single-instance Oracle Database on the top right. All of the databases share access to an ASM clustered pool of storage that appears at the bottom of the diagram. The clustered storage pool has two disk groups, disk group A and disk group B. Disk group A has four disks and disk group B has two disks.
