Is 55" LCD not capable of 1080p?

Well, you'd think it would be, yet here we are.....LOL

Actually it will on the HDMI input, but for some reason the VGA input is hobbled to some lower options.  I think my answer may be a VGA to HDMI adapter that supports the 1920x1080 res.  I was just hoping to avoid the extra gear.
